Anxious Dog Training
WE ARE ALL UNIQUE, INCLUDING OUR DOGS
Just like people dogs have problems. The reactive dogs or anxious dogs can be helped using compassionate, positive reinforcement dog training techniques to help you achieve your goals and give both you and your dog confidence. Guiding the reactive dogs and their humans confidently in the Litchfield area.
I know all too well about reactive dogs / dogs with anxiety. I think that there are some dogs that have some reactivity problems and then there are those that have some anxiety added in to it. I have Mojo. She is a 9 year old Boston Terrier / Pug mix. I rescued her when she was 7, so I have had her for 2 years. She had issues when I got her. Barking, Resource Guarding, Pulling on the leash, they said she like the car but they mistook the panting for excitement as it is really anxiety and she has kid issues as they never introduced kids correctly to her. So to say it was an uphill battle was saying it politely. The food guarding was the first mountain we had to over that took 6 months. At first she would bark anytime a sound came by my apartment, now it's only if strangers walk by. She used to bark at bicycles, runners, skateboards and dogs all the time on walks. Now she barks at 1 out of 10 runners, no bikes, dogs are a challenge and no skateboards. We won't talk about her riding in a car. We are still working on it.
Needless to say, I can empathize with having a reactive / anxious dog and the stress that can come with it. I also completely understand the patience that it takes. Oh believe me I know. I can also tell you, that as someone who is working with a 9 year old dog, don't let age be what prevents you from helping you and your dog.
That's where my experience as a certified professional dog trainer and a mom of an anxious dog will guide you through helping your anxious / reactive dog. You and your family will create a lifetime bond with your dog during training. Depending on where your dog is on their journey, we will set realistic goals for both you and your dog to achieve so that you BOTH feel comfortable, confident and successful around other dogs and people.
I offer 2 different types of training. I can coach you through the process by working with you and fluffy a couple of times a week over a certain number of weeks (you can see my coaching plans here) or I can do the training for you otherwise known as day training depending on what the goal is. Depending on what we are trying to achieve for fluffy on her anxiety, day training may or may not be the best option. That would be discussed at the consultation / assessment. Both types of dog training are personalized, private, one on one and done in the comfort of your home. The breakdown of pros are below.
They are similar in price it just depends on what you are able to invest time wise into the training.
As the adage goes, you get out of it what you put in to it.
I do the training (Day Training)
